Providing a safe and healthy work environment for our employees

Perrigo is committed to fostering an environment that supports employee productivity and protects them on the job. We have a strong culture of safety in all of our operations, and we provide benefits and programs that encourage health and wellness amongst all of our employees.

Heath & Wellness

Perrigo recognizes that safety and health are personal as well as job-related. Personal wellness programs are available for all U.S. locations and we are actively expanding these programs to locations outside the U.S. These programs typically include:

  • Monthly wellness events and medical exams on health risks such as skin cancer, breast cancer, high blood pressure, and diabetes
  • Periodic presentations on topics such as nutrition, ergonomics, smoking cessation and dieting designed to raise awareness and encourage healthy lifestyles
  • PERRIGO-ACTIVE program supports our employees' ability to lead an active lifestyle through lectures on fitness, activity tracking and individual counseling sessions on subjects such as weight problems, body fat percentage and blood pressure.
  • February 2013, Perrigo India officially opened its new Occupational Health Center.
  • Perrigo partnered with the American Cancer Society (ACS) and support the nationwide Cancer Prevention Study 3, or CPS-3.

Safety

Employee safety remains a critical objective for Perrigo. Whether it's through Perrigo's PASS audit program, careful management of the work environment or immediate response to potential safety issues, our focus is to avoid incidents and create a work environment free from safety hazards.

  • In FY 2013, Perrigo again achieved industry standard for the number of Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) recordable incident rates, averaging 1.8 globally.

Perrigo's programs to protect human rights include:

  • Annual third-party social responsibility audits conducted at Perrigo sites and suppliers in numerous geographic regions to ensure Perrigo is sourcing responsibly.
  • Implementation of a GSCP equivalent auditing protocol to ensure compliance to the Perrigo Code of Conduct.
  • Promoting robust diversity, safety and Talent Management strategies to promote and protect our employees
  • Positive work environment training required of all U.S. employees.
  • Affirmative action plans at all U.S. site to ensure we are an equal opportunity employer.
  • An ethics hotline available to all employees globally to ask questions and report concerns and violations anonymously.
  • Working with customers to ensure that our policies and programs meet their social compliance expectations as well as our own.
  • Abide by the provisions of the CA Transparency Act

Human Rights in the Supply Chain

Perrigo is also committed to ensuring that its suppliers, regardless of location, comply with our Supplier Code of Conduct and enforce these principles throughout their own supply chains. Our Supplier Code of Conduct defines the guiding principles that Perrigo expects its suppliers to follow with respect to employment conditions, environmental responsibility, legal and ethical business practices, and facility security and inspections. By adhering to these principles, our suppliers contribute to the quality of life in the communities in which they operate and help protect Perrigo's hard-earned reputation as a company that "does what is right."

Perrigo enforces these principles through a global strategy to prequalify, monitor, correct and enforce these principles through first and third party methods. Our company is subject to numerous laws and regulations across the globe that governs everything from the way we manufacture our products to the work environment we provide our employees. In addition, the way we do business is guided by our code of ethics and corporate values, and monitored through our compliance program.

Our commitment to compliance with these laws and regulations begins with every employee's personal commitment to our core values – Integrity, Respect and Responsibility. These core values empower our employees to do what is right, thereby ensuring we comply with laws, regulations, and internal policies and procedures. Perrigo's Code of Conduct explains these core values and compliance expectations for all employees and at all levels of our global organization. While we believe our core values lay the foundation for our compliance program, we also continue to enhance our compliance program in other ways.
